for anyone wanting to know the truth behind whats going on here, read Revelations ch. 9, verses 1-11 in the Bible. The Keymaster is a fallen angel(demon) who has the key to the bottomless pit. The Gatekeeper is named Abaddon, also the name of Avril Lavrign'es new clothing line(Abby Dawn), whcih, conicendentally, is covered with occult, satanic, and masonic symbols. The ghouls escaping the containment chamber in the movie signifies the demons fleeing the abyss like a swarm of locusts.

Do Zuul and Vinz Clortho only partially occupy a victim's spirit, or do they possess them completely? The former would suggest that deep down Sigourney Weaver's character is a temptress of seduction like Zuul, while the latter suggests that Vinz Clortho is as big a dickhead as Rick Moranis' character.
