they were kicked out of afghanistan by the coalition. as u can see they lost power did they not? the taliban however are extremely power in pakistan, this is where they mount their attacks from. i would suggest u to look up the locations of all of the battles in recent years in afghanistan. u will notice they are mostly along the border with pakistan
