Trite, triste, triste - The paint dealer of Giorgio Morandi

Bologna 2012 - 28 min

At the art supply show I met a person who sold directly to Giorgio Morandi who was shopping there unitl his death in 1964. He advised me not only on the colors and on the canvas Morandi used but also introduced me to his former boss who worked as a paint dealer - un mesticatore - for Morandi between the 1940s and his death. Thus, I was able to interview the 80 year old Carlo Carlotti and listen to some really nice stories. He gave quite a good impression of the painter and his time.

This video was made in Bologna, Italy for a group show curated by Lorenzo Bruni for a show at Galleria Astuni. Girogrio Morandi (1890 - 1964) lived his entrie life in Bologna and painted apart of some landscape paintings exclusively very reduced still lives containing bottles and other simple containers.

I came accross Morandi for the video and paintings entiteld PAINTING A PIG HEAD IN FRONT OF A GIRGIO MORANDI

This video will be subtitled soon.
