@Tromb0ne22 The US is a Constitutional Republic - the purpose of that form of government is to provide a means of democratic self-government where the rights of the minority are also protected from majority imposition. A majority opinion is not an excuse for authoritarian segregation. Even if 100% of people agreed with DOTA, it would still have been unconstitutional.

I doubt he had enough time on the floor of the senate to give 10 examples. But I do believe I remember him saying it was a sentiment he saw expressed at many military bases. As to whether or no he or his ideas on this issue are "full of shit" I believe I can reference the majority of armed forces in the world having gotten past this issue a while ago. These include Israel, the UK, Australia, Canada, Uruguay, Poland, and even Russia. Your mindset on this issue is a bit out-dated.

Why repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell when it worked among the Republican politicians (senate, congress, governor etc)! It's a fact that a lot of Republican politicians who are gay and are still in the closet! It worked well for the GOP, why repeal it?!
