I have parents from Hong Kong and FYI: Hong Kong people often like to say Yes, yes, ok, ok, ok, ok to just get going with their lives, especially in English, because that's what they say in Hong Kong. So if they ask him all these, questions, he's just trying to leave, and that might be the reason why he said Yes to drugs in the beginning.
