I am a huge Brian Wilson and Beach Boys fan. Brian Wilson IS a classical music composer because his beautiful melodies will live as long as sensitive, sentient music lovers exist. His music IS classic pop.

Bear with this. I reveal how to do the organ or keyboard solo with the cascading thirds trick. Basically this is rocking between the root note of either the C or G chord. One starts with a dominant C or G 7th chord and uses the top two notes of that chord. Then you rock back to the root and then rock onto notes 4 and 6 of the given scale, either C & E for the G or F & A for the C, which the second inversion of the 4th or sub-dominant of that scale. Then you rock onto the root and onto the 3rd and 5th of the given chord, which is a B & D for a G or E & G for a C. I also show how to slide off the black notes and onto the white notes for a funkier feel or sound.

I am using a Yamaha electronic, 76-key keyboard. I am interested in training young people and budding musicians how to do practical music theory and how to play by ear and improvise. Reading sheet music and sight reading is nice, but knowing the theory of rock harmony is imperative to performing and improvising spontaneously.
