Call to Bally's Fitness - Bally's cheap for a reason.

Inexplicably Bally's fitness canceled my membership. I had contacted them about having my membership suspended while I was out of the gym with a broken collarbone. I had spoken to a few reps who had supposedly recorded my desire and was given a fax number to send the doctors note. I sent the note. They sent me a cancellation notice. I called and they told me it was "unusual" that they don't normally cancel accounts for such a short gym absence. Further that they would, of course, reinstate my membership. I was then told to call back in a couple weeks to check my status. I didn't understand why that would be necessary. But I waited a few weeks and when I was about ready to go back to the gym called to check my status. Sure enough they had again canceled my membership, this time without notice. This is all pretty typical of my dealings with the corporate fascist bureaucracy.

So I hear. I like going to the gym, even while it's mediocre. Some weights to push is all I care about really. But having to deal with the company, er.  They'll call you every day of the week if you're late paying... I think that's illegal. It's definitely harrassment and speaks to their monetary priority.

I HATE BALLY'S and I don't even join there. I've heard horrible things about their cancellation policies. I would never join.

McDaidUSA is right, You are lucky. I have a membership with my 2 yr old and the daycare was closed every other visit at 3 locations in Seattle/Tacoma. This meant I went there each time and couldn't lift because of their problem. They apologized but it didn't resolve. I left them for AllStar fitness and wrote two cancellation letters last Fall, I just opened a congratulations letter stating I'm due for auto renewal next month. Be happy you got cancelled.

You should consider yourself lucky these idiots cancelled your membership since most people want to cancell their membership and can't. I was conned into signing up for TWO memberships by a trick that is too complicated to describe here, but now I cannot cancel either of them. I am AMAZED that you were able to actually talk to a Bally representative. Every attempt I have made to talk to someone has been fruitless, even the staff at my gym can't or won't help. Bally is corrupt.
