This is what I love the most about Metallica. Their songs have a very unique style in that the song either starts out heavy, drops to a n almost harmonious level and picks backup to the thrash part like this song or it starts slow and gradually gets faster and heavier throughout the song like One.

@Keeavin It's about drugs taking over your life, "obey your master, master, master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings" the drugs are the puppet master of your life, controlling what you do once you start them.

"cut your breakfast on a mirror" that alone makes it obvious the song relates to cocaine, along with the other drugs that lyrics hint to. I think the song isn't just about drugs in general, but OD'ing on them
