The new S-Curve in the San Francisco Bay Bridge has been the scene of over 44 accidents since it was installed during the Labor Day weekend. The last accident resulted in a big rig plunging 200 feet over the bridge and killing the driver instantly..... Many people are calling this new curve dangerous but is it Stanley Roberts takes a look at the problem in this edition of People Behaving Badly.

  • By not traveling with the flow of traffic, you become the road hazard..Speeding is overated cause of accidents but a great way to write citations and bring in revenue to the State. Thanks for showing all of us who's side you are on..

  • @5150ToddB I love people who may or may not live in the state sware that the tickets issued by CHP go to the state ....They don't! The lions share of all tickets go to the Courts not to the CHP ...and I'm on no ones side! Im just doing a JOB...

  • you were in compliance with the posted speed limit while simultaneously violating the california basic speed law, and VC22400 by creating an impedance to the overall flow of vehicles around you, that makes YOU the unsafe person. you were aware of the potential danger, and still willfully, and repeatedly went back to that same curve. . . . and the nominees for this year's darwin award are. . .

  • @dbgelman I love it when people (that would be you) quote the California Vehicle code. (FYI) CVC 22400 is referring to drivers that drive well below the posted speed limit. 22400 (a) No person shall drive upon a highway at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic, unless the reduced speed is necessary for safe operation, because of a grade, or in compliance with law.

  • speed limit here is more like a recommendation i drive on the freeway 65-70mph and i seem to be the slowest on the freeway.

  • 1:25 rice out

  • If everybody slows down then it would be safer but if everybody is going the same speed above the posted sign and you are the only one slowing down then you are creating the hazard. It is called "Go to the flow of Traffic"!

Imagine a stream of water flowing gently through a bank placed with a big rock right in the middle; what do you think would happen to that nice flow of water? It would then create swirl or disturbance in that water. Now, relate that to the flow of traffic.

  • @bjzorn There is a speed limit on the Autobahn, 130kph (about 78mph). Now, there are portions where you are allowed to go beyond that limit, but if you get in an acident while exceeding 130kph, you are held 50% at fault, even if it wasn't your fault (say a guy side swipes you, you get cut-off with no time to slow down, or someone clips your rear bumper). People in those countries are aware of this and obey the laws, which people in the US have a hard time doing...

  • Wow these people can't even stay in their own lane and they have the nerve to speed?

  • @bjzorn Going in the correct lane is always a good idea. ;)

  • I go around sharper turns than that faster than that.... It's not my fault other idiots don't know how to turn a wheel..

  • So does he know that the Autobahn in Germany and the AutoStrada in Italy are some of the safest roads in the world. Both of which don't have speed limits in some areas. It's not speed the kills it's road conditions, people not paying attention, people not going with the flow of traffic and not being in the correct lane.

  • I will admit this, you sir should have been in the slowest lane if doing the speed limit clearly has everyone passing you. I've been pulled over for doing the speed limit, he said I was obstructing traffic. I said "I'm just doing the speed limit sir, in the slowest lane." Had nothing to say other than "Sometimes going with the flow of traffic is ok." Ha, wish he was in court with me when I got a ticket for doing just that. I don't win either way...

  • Wow that looked that dangerous i had to avert my eyes
