On Thursday, October 14, 2010, those who helped with the acquisition or restoration of 1907 Southern Railway steam locomotive No. 401 got their "Thank You" at a special day of operations where evryone got a chance to run the Consolidation. First task of the day was to fill the engine's fuel tank with the strained, used motor oil that the locomotive now burns following conversion from coal. Then MILW NW-2 No. 1649 pushed the already-warm steamer out of the engine house, where it was brought up to operating pressure. Some adjustments were required to a sticky safety valve before 401 was backed to the Nelson's Crossing depot (former Illinois Central station from Deland IL) for use that day.
