Bruno Baumann: Silkroad Project 2010

Bruno Baumann and the charitable organization Friends for Life work on the vision of a New Silk Road. On an expedition with numerous events, the vision will be brought to life in 2010, at the same time as the World Exhibition, taking place in Shanghai. Both the expedition and the exhibition include global dialogues as one of their central topics. At the World Exhibition, the Silk Road Project 2010 will be the most extensive and ambitious individual project from Europe.(www.silk-road-project.org)

A journey, which starts at the end of April/beginning of May 2010, is the core of the project. By the midst of July 2010 the team of the expedition, including approximately 35 people, will arrive in Shanghai. Through this project the ancient Silk Road is to be revived in its function as a carrier of trade, cultural values and beliefs. The Silk Road will be a stage for global messages in an intercultural dialogue.

Communication will happen through politics, art, media, the mind and the body. As far as we know, no project with such a great diversity of aspects has been carried out yet.


Bruno Baumann und der gemeinnützige Verein "Friends For Life" die Vision einer "Neuen Seidenstraße" entgegensetzen. Diese Vision wird mit Hilfe einer mehrschichtigen Expedition/Aktion im Jahr 2010 kommuniziert, parallel zur Weltausstellung in Shanghai, die ihrerseits von einem Dialog in globalem Maßstab geprägt sein soll. Silkroad 2010 ist das aufwändigste und anspruchsvollste Einzelprojekt zur Weltausstellung, das von europäischem Boden aus gestartet wird.

Im Zentrum des Projektes steht eine reale Reise, die Ende April/Anfang Mai 2010 in Berlin beginnt. Mitte Juli 2010 wird das etwa 35-köpfige Expeditionsteam in Shanghai auf dem Gelände der Expo eintreffen. Die antike Seidenstraße als frühestes historisches Beispiel einer funktionierenden Austausch-Achse von Waren, kulturellen Werten und Glaubensbekenntnissen soll durch das Projekt revitalisiert und zur Plattform für eine globale Botschaft des interkulturellen Dialogs gemacht werden.
Dies geschieht sowohl auf politische, auf künstlerische, auf mediale wie auch auf physische Art und Weise. Eine solch vielschichtige Kombination innerhalb eines einzigen Projektes ist nach unserem Kenntnisstand ohne Beispiel. ( www.silk-road-project.org)
