A clip from the 1976 live-action adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid.

The witch successfully turns the little mermaid's tail into a pair of legs in exchange for her head of blue hair. She happily explores the many wonders of the human world. It's beyond her wildest dreams!

  • yaya!! the mermaid keeps her voice ^^

  • Where did you get this dvd? I love it, myself. But personally, they did a very bad job of dubbing it, and it takes the magic out of the film, for me at least. I understand Russian, and seeing it the way it was originally made is so much more magical, and the voices fit better.

  • dubbing? what happened to good old fashioned subtitles?

  • "They who said that life was always wonderful, were right of course....to some extent". Tee-hee. Cute song.

  • @MrSamixOxo18 I was thinking the same thing, watching the little clips I could find. (I can't find the full movie in English.) She should marry the other guy, he obviously cares more about her than the prince does, even telling the witch not to take her voice.

  • The mermaid has such a lovely smile....

  • y doesnt she go for the other guy? he seems to care for her more than the prince will.

  • I know what kind of fool who give their live 4 her, that guy (don't know his name) I think he's the fool.

  • well this movie is creaping me out by the time the witch transform her into a human.....the background music scared me...wooooo.....but i like the other scene....well thumbs up for this movie....n i like it very much....thank you.....=D

  • I actually purchased the DVD, and even though I put it on English dub, the songs are always in Russian. Why is the song in English here?

I would appreciate any light shed on this strange issue :)

  • I'll let you know if I find the VHS. Russian is a very difficult language, but I am sure, if could hear the original music and all, you might have a different impression of it...I find a huge difference b/w watching Engl.speaking movies w/Russian dubs and watching them in original English and prefer the latter. If you find with the subs & if you get a minute;-), let me know what you think ( even if you don't like it;-)).It's often interesting to know how others perceive same things. Thanks again!

  • You're very welcome :) I'm just passing along what I happened to observe. And I just love fairy tales. Let me know if you find the vhs. I'd sooner have a subbed version so that I can read it and hear their own language. I won't be learning Russian any time soon, sadly.
