  • @kgarmaker123 The only two singers whom I've heard do the trills are Frida Leider and Marjorie Lawrence.

  • @kgarmaker123

Nevermind, I looked up the score and the Assoluta list, and it's not in this opera but in "Siegfried" that Brunhilde becomes an Assoluta manquee role, her brief appearence at the end of act 3 has several trills, two dips down to Bb3 and two jumps up to C6 and heroic coloratura in "Ewig war ich, ewig bin ich"

  • @primohomme I dont know this opera as welll as some.. But when the trills are executed correctly, they are thrilling.. Wish a recording existed of Callas in this role..

  • @kgarmaker123

Does this role require agility at some other point besides this scene?

This is considered a manquee Assoluta role, in the subgroup with same range and same agility and same heroic weight as the main 9 Assoluta roles, but with mostly high tessitura than the 9 main roles (along with Odabella in Attila, Ermione in Rossini's opera, etc).

  • EVen so.. I like this by Flastad.. a remarkable voice

  • @primohomme The trills are so important to this piece.. consider the introduction( the opening music as you have edited it.. its a trill..!! and they are underneath the score.. They add to the score.

  • @LohengrinT

You don't like it? I think it's one of the best I've heard, actually...

I mean, she hits her high C's and held high B at the end

Of course, she doesn't have the trills though.

  • This Jotohoho thing has never been sung well by anyone - I truly wonder why, it is like a mystery

  • amazing! (one small correction: it's act II, not III)

  • Flagstad just makes this most difficult "entrance" sound so easy.
