  • @Goldbuns If you truly think that a single cat will extinct a species...well, I guess you aren't feeding the cat very well...

Anyway, we humans need fresh air, outside, every animal needs it I see absolutely no reason to not give a cat (domestic or not) that right. Dogs may be on leashes but at least they are able to go outside. Last but not least, domestic cats by nature pee and poo OUTSIDE. No offense but I almost consider it abusive to leave your cat "suffocating" inside...

  • @Fangornmmc I will never think this is a good idea, unfortunately. There is NOTHING natural about a domestic cat being let loose on an area where none of the prey have evolved with a domestic cat-like predator. You are basically saying you don't care that species are going extinct. It's also natural for dogs to be running wild, too. But you don't see people throwing them outdoors with no supervision, no fences, nothing.

  • @CaptainDummyTalk Indeed! Pretty much the same story over here ;)

  • @Goldbuns I disagree, but befor I go on explaining myself you should know that I live in the Netherlands, yes there are endangered species here too but not that much. A cat, in my opinion should be free to go where he/she wants, whenever he/she wants it. I happen to live on the doorstep of a forest. Also, cats tend to hunt prey when they are young, my cat is 16 now he has not been hunting for almost 6 years now. Even if he did, it would only be natural.

  • Live to late teens? Mine died this week two weeks shy of her 15th bday. I miss her so. She was such a lady.

  • I believe that cats should be kept indoors not only for their sake, but for all their potential prey items. So many endangered birds, amphibians, reptiles and mammals out there, I just can't believe that people allow predators to run free with NO supervision! It just shows that people really don't actually care for the cat because there is NO reason for the cat to not have ANY supervision whatsoever.

I never had my cats on leashes. I would just watch over them, and let them out. It's simple!

  • this is like a review for a cat ;p

  • @xaositectz i guess it all depends on the kind of scenario the cat is in, but cats really dont leave their territories often so stuff like that should be rare, if the cats learn early in life that things such as cars should be avoided and the same goes for dogs

  • @GenXUnderground of course the cat won't pick the fight, but we have loose dogs in my home village...and i've seen many beautiful cats' corpses on the road, squashed by a car. if you don't want your cat to die, you won't let it wander around in the village, because it happens occasionally. but then of course it's nice to give them some freedom, so it's kinda a hard decision

  • just incase people were wondering, they do shed heaps!!!!
