You can also use WD-40 as a starting fluid, i had an 84 Eldorado, and an 85 Ford with Navstar, it worked fir both.

@diesel85idi Apparently you must've not have read where he said a tiny shot of Ether got it going, Otherwise you wouldn't have typed your suggestion.

Course I do, that's what I used to get it going off camera. Theres a proper to use starting fluid, not alot of people seem to know how to do it.

not a diesel guy in the slightest but im still very mechanically inclined. before this vid even started i couldve told you it wouldve sat their and just coughed trying to start it. basically at that rate your trying to warm the other cylinders via the starter/starting process. starter is not going to like you after this one :-)

It started many times before without glow plugs, but was way colder that day witch is why it didn't start in this one. I kind of knew it wouldn't either, but meh, worth trying. A tiny shot of Ether got 'er going.

Had the same problem today! 16 F Degrees here in Indiana. Decided to sleep in mine for work (fri 2-10, sat 6-2) and shut it off. Without it plugged in, it would crank and act like it would go...but wouldn't. Even though I hated to, resorted to using either to make it fire. Mine has the door in the back and is slightly shorter. It's still a 1987 Ford Econoline E 350 Diesel dually. What kind of trannies do these have? They're International Harvester 6.9 Liter Diesel Engines right?

This one has the C6 3 speed auto. Some had the E4OD 4 speed O/D tranny, but uncomond in these vans. And yes it's an International Harvester engine.
