I have to tell how grateful I am for the internet and for this video. I tried to "tweak" the laser with those tiny screws. Worked for a week, then same open tray issue. Made sure I identified the correct model of drive, ordered through amazon, swapped the boards (being very careful and taking the soldering very slow!) Put everything back together and BAM! Works like a charms. Again THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!

i believe my laser is the problem, instead of soldering the board can i just take the whole laser and disk spindle mechanism out and put it in my new drive?
-
I did what you said but when I put the game in I just spins once like there is no disk in the tray

is there any way of doing this without soldering? cause i have no soldering skills what so ever or any equipment to say the least, and I don't want to take it somewhere for someone else to do it.

@L1QUIDZ ..ok did you see if the lazer is stuck all the way back to the circuit? That is the reason for the open tray ERROR...
