@PositivelyBored i actually had not received any music education, i also started very late, but i also play electric guitar. i do agree i have no music background, there are sometimes when i see a kid drummer on youtube and i am like "WOW !", i wish i can play like that. but for dave weckl, sorry, i am not interested to replicate his drumming, i never really hear any music in his drum solo

You could easily add Bozzio. He was one of Zappas best drummers and that says enough, nevermind his contributions to the art , limb independence, solo - ostinato approachs etc. Peart and Carey are a little different level, more important to rock like you said.

Among others from the past ( Elvin, Papa Jo, Buddy, H Blaine, Chaffee, Dawson) , you could add Jojo Mayer to that list also (innovative now living legend)

You need a certain level of musical background and understanding of advanced drumming to comprehend and be able to replicate drumming styles such as these. That's just how it is.  Accept and move on.
