Nevermind the consoles in the beginning, please :)
This simple guy currently just likes to walk right by default and jumps once there is an obstacle to the right or once he is in front of a hole.
Simple improvements right now will be to dig into the engine used, so I can predict the effects of running for my lookahead-distances and well.. run :) and to implement a certain knowledge about the jump needed, so I can do a quick small jump if there is a large need for a small hop or slowly build up enough jump power if there is the need for a big, long hop.
He seems to be a bit slow to respond when an obstacle appears suddenly in front of him at close range. I recommend having him immediately about-face and run back a little bit (if there isn't a hole/other obstacle behind him) before turning back around and figuring out if jumping over the obstacle is possible.

@MacerXGP The AI is emergent, which means it must learn such things by itself.
