They Build Walls

Every brick, another lie, ascends towards the darkening sky
The lessons past we have not learnt, the ashes of the ones we've burnt

The streets of Warsaw filled with hate, the towering wall, the heavy gate
The sleeping beast across the Rhine, the Auschwitz wire, the Maginot Line

The terror grows, each bloody grave, the hope they lost, the lives they gave
The martyred mother's sad lament, the bus stop baby heaven sent

Praise be God and praise be Allah, in their holy names we kill each other
Shattering promise, killing dreams, festering hatred, tortured screams

The numbers grow, the hate we sow, the peace we'll never get to know
The body counts on either side, the hopelessness, the genocide

The bulldozed death of damned decree, strangled flowers in the dark Dead Sea
Likud, Hamas, it's all the same, a rose by any other name

The fear, the blame, the death, the dread, on either side the blood drips red.
