What is a Mashup?

A mashup combines web content (such as news articles, blogs, photos, and videos) with some kind of other functionality, creating a hybrid service from two or more different sources.

There are a number of different kinds of mashups on the web today: data mashups, consumer mashups, business mashups, media mashups and more.

Essentially, all of these take a combination of information, mix it up, and deliver it in an interesting new way. One of the most recognizable forms of mashups are in the form of applications for mobile devices such as the iPhone.
