There's been a rumor on the internet for a while about Hans Christian Andersen's, "The Snow Queen" becoming the next Disney animated feature after the King of the Elves movie. It was later revealed that the movie has been confirmed by Alan Menken, the composer for many Disney movies, such as Aladdin and The Little Mermaid.
It has been confirmed that The Snow Queen will become the next traditional-animated musical for Disney. It will come out sometime in 2013. The video contains conception art of the characters mainly the Snow Queen herself and the heroine, Gerda.
The film has recently been shelved once more. Disney felt that the film's story wasn't coming together.
Interesting, it was confirmed that Alan Menken and Glenn Slater had written several songs for, "The Snow Queen" musical and the script itself. Apparently, Disney bought the rights for it to turn it into an animated musical. But there was something that did not translate well. So now we know.

Fuck Disney with being lazy and cheap with 3d animation, just do it like we want! the parks and merchandize need characters from a 2d movie like Beauty&the beast. call it 'The snow Queen" and respect HCA (the name Tangled was a disgrace and rape of Rapunzel). Also, stop with that 'being a funny animated movie',make it a truly classic.Disney is raping the memory of Walt, he would fire the whole board, an extra 2000 employees and start over with people who realy love the institution of Disney!

Bad news, I'm hearing rumors that the film is now going to be CG animated instead of 2D animated.

I really hope Disney change the title back to "The Snow Queen" and I hope the movie is in 2D animation instead of 3D animation.

I REALLY hope they don't use "Frozen" as the title name. What's wrong with calling it "The Snow Queen"? Is the original title just too "girly" in their eyes like "Rapunzel" was to them? Next thing you know it'll be "Sidetracked" for a Hansel and Gretal film. I know it shouldn't be such a big deal, but for a title to one of my favorite stories it just aggrevates me a bit.

@ceitiosaurus Former Snow Queens - Kathleen Turner, Sigourney Weaver, Louise Arthur. The voice must be of a mature woman. The emotion in the voice must be stoic, but capable of a sort of manipulative kindness. I don't know, basically ;)
I would like to hear a little bit of Bjork's voice in this project as well, not much, just a little. Definitely not the voice of the Snow Queen however,

This is VERY interesting to me. I fist saw the the original animated version of "The Snow Queen" on TV. At first, I thought it was a Disney film, but it turned out to be a Soviet Russian film. It was darker, a little edgier than the usual Disney treatment, and really left a lasting impression. If Disney could keep the dark edge of the story using modern animation, a great soundtrack, great voice acting - yes, I think this might be something to look forward to.

Oh and I would like to say that "Tangled" was amazing, love the soundtrack!

wahtever they make, it wont bear Russian version. And why is Snow Queen wearing all that fur? Shes doesnt feel cold since empowered by magic of coldness.

@Checkingokop The Snow Queen is usually depicted in fur in most artwork. I love the both designs in the concept art, but I would like a more elegant look for the final look. I especially love Gerda's design she looks dark with a touch of Disney.
