  • If you listen to the soundtrack, this 240Z (chassis number HLS30 00006) was improved to remain competitive over the years to 'become' a 260Z and then a 280Z.

Bob Sharp updated the car with the latest factory equipment, race parts - and items like taillights. It had to look like the latest spec to help sell road cars. Any real Z fanatic would know this.

  • Nissan did it again with the GT-R

  • In many ways that would be correct, but it is not absolute. From the 1st 240's to the last 280z, the displacement changed, the carbs were changed and eventually switched to fuel injection. The cars also got heavier (as all good cars do) over time because people want more "features". The 240z was the fastest Z, until the first turbo 300zx (z31) came out.

That said, 240,260,280z/280zx are VERY EASY to work on. I was nervous about buying my ZX years ago but I LOVED that car in the long run!

  • So the only difference between 240 240 & 280 is the motor?

  • @TheOregonSkunk

i just bought my first car, its a 71, 240z and im 17.

i got it for $400. engine is a beast it runs and all. just the carbs need a rebuild. the body isnt what i expected either, rust in most bad corners but overall not too shabby.

  • my first car was a 260z got it for $450 when i was 16

  • Heheh. It'd be true if not for the $80,000 price tag. :P

  • thanks alot for this :D
