this is the 3rd version of my record lathe, that turns regular cd's into working records playable on any record player.

engraver 1.0 -- the sound was ok, but with lots or crackles and pops with very low quality.

engraver 2.0 -- the recordings now lack most of the crackles and pops, but quality is still low, but is an improvement from before.

engraver 3.0 -- crackles and pops gone completely, and tremendous improvement on quality.

  • @emmanu888 Thanx 4 7h3 !nf0. description updated!

  • @mbarry6

how much do you reckon you can fit on a disk?

  • @left4dead5667 around 2 minutes.

  • Is the CD still playable in a CD player after engraving? it would be pretty cool to have like a hybrid CD/Vinyl. and does the material of the CD affect the wear of the stylus in any way?

  • @chococheese88 yes, as long as you dont record over the data portion of the disk, it will play. to do that tho, you cant burn more than a song or two, or you wont have as much room for the engraving. I haven't had any wear happen on my record player. I would say cd's are needle friendly.

  • Cool now I know what to do with all those cds that I was going to trash ^^. This is pretty cool!

  • while you engrave the cd, do you move your hand from outer to inner groove or the needle simply guide your arm?

  • I would like to purchase multiple cd records and I'd like to ask what length and speeds do your cd records come in?

  • Can you create lock grooves?
