On Sat 30th January, this aircraft appeared above the bay opposite my house. I quickly gtabbed my Canon XHA1 and started shooting. It wasn't until a few minutes in I realised I not turned on the Rode Video Mic! After around 6 minutes it flew off the the east. I have no idea why it was here as there is no celebrations on that I know about.

For tips on video, reviews of hardware and software, tutorials, features and more, go to http://www.auscamonline.com

I do know though that after 6 minutes, my arms were ready to drop off. I think it is a pretty good effort for hand-held on-the-spot!!

  • Yeah - I have an xha1 also. Went to a helicopter show in san carlos, cal on june 19. I used a monopod part of the time and handheld the rest. It does get tiring. I also used a polarizing file (off ebay $20) and that makes the sky real blue.

  • @MrHiDefGuy Have you had any issues with the Firewire port on the XHA1? Mine seems to have died ....

  • @vbthedog - Actually,my name is Bill. But no problem. I always turn my camera off or to standby when connecting. Turn camera back on after. I did have my video ccds replaced when I got a vertical red line going going thru the picture. It cost $300 dollars to have the cdds replaced at the canon repair center. I had expected worse actually. I use adobe on-location when recording to my laptop during concerts via firewire. Always works.
