8th chapter of DOD: The Death of Depth," an early 2005 video exploration of Limited Fork Poetics (as Limited Fork Theory was then known, and had been known since LFT's birth in October 2004). This video book has been reconfigured from files and file fragments salvaged from a failed external hard drive (650GB of 800GB existing, as of this writing, as unreadable information).

"The Death of Depth" was an outcome of the birth of forkergirl's understanding of the usual location of her (and, therefore, her/the fork's) interactions: on the surface, at the entrance to the interaction, boundary position; "depth" continuously reconfigured as the yet-to-explore, the to-be-connected-with; for when something is cut into, the cutter and the interaction tend to be relocated to a surface that emerges; what is exposed by cut or entry becomes available for consideration, itself a form of interaction. The surface is suitable for study. And if not complex, may become so with scale shifting: magnification.

Chapter 8 explains aspects of the reconfiguration and reframing of poetry when Limited Fork Theory is the framing system. This is the beginnings of the poetics of Limited Fork Theory.

"Page" is considered as a mater of display, the increase of possibilities and problems of display that a Limited Fork configuration of poetry reveals. The landscape of page (host of the event system or poem) is not limited to the size of a paper host which is able to host only parts of the event system. But even page as paper host offers opportunities for display of multiple areas of varying degrees of stability and instability; form becoming organized and form becoming disorganized. Page can reveal multiple scales and moments of a more inclusive event system and subsystems. That the system is ongoing exposes a problem with display systems, for what is displayed is a variation or subsystem of the event system's subject, a related system part of the larger system, but not the system as it continues outside of what has been captured for display. Page offers a kind of captivity to what it hosts, at times beautiful and inspiring captivity, but still a form of captivity.

The capture happens in progress; that is, extraction from an ongoing system, so there is no beginning that maybe accessed; there is a moment in which a subsystem of that interaction that is also / that also contains extraction and display is activated, preceded by, among other thins, activation of impulse and reason and occasion to interact and collaborate. There are similar considerations regarding endings.

Chapter 8 delights in (some of) the exquisite failure of poetry.

Features early music from the founder of Strexx Quantum Orchestra.
