On Oct 5,just days after the Taliban raided a US base in Afghanistan, killing 8 US troops, hundreds of antiwar protesters descended on the White House to demand the withdrawal of the troops and an end to this madness.
The protest led to 61 arrests-some possibly for people chaining themselves to the White House fence-before the Secret Service ordered an end to arrests. Fearing a triple-digit arrest total, the S.S. decided to use force instead of arrests to remove the last affinity groups.
