I couldn't resist creating a Minecraft version of the town Aridell, from the excellent indie RPG Eschalon Book 1 (by Basilisk Games). I took some liberties here and there in the interests of making things look decent, but for the most part it's a 1:1 model; one square in Eschalon being one square in Minecraft.
In the end, I think it'd be more satisfying (not to mention aesthetically pleasing) to redo it with a less strict mapping layout, since designs which seem fine in Eschalon can look pretty cramped in Minecraft, since Minecraft walls take up the entire square. Still, I enjoy it.
In the interests of full disclosure, I should probably mention that I used INVedit to provide basically all the construction materials here. I didn't feel like mining out a whole new map, and I probably wouldn't have had the patience to acquire all that obsidian, anyway.
Argh! That damn lever still doesn't do anything!!! :D
