This 1985 release is credited for being the very first widely published gospel rap song. Back then, Wiley was a youth minister who sought to educate children about the books of the Bible. Note: A University of Oklahoma graduate, Wiley began a career as a jazz drummer in 1979 and wrote a song called "Basketball". This tune would later go on to be recorded by mainstream rapper Kurtis Blow and become a #71 hit (in 1985). Wiley is widely considered the father of Christian rap. He is now a pastor in Tulsa, OK.

  • Lol Lega-C brought me here

  • I am almost 40 and I still have this memorized; this song is the only way I learned the books of the Bible. When my pastor asks me to turn to an obscure book, I "rap" the books of the Bible still!
