Inside a former Soviet secret submarine base

I was there before they tidied up the interior; my guide had been before and knew what he was talking about. Ironic that back in the 1850s the British fleet was anchored in the same harbour seen at the end of the video and a few minutes up the road is where the Charge of the Light Brigade took place. I hope that more visitors go to the Crimea/Krim and see this and other attractions. Sevastopol and Yalta are both close by.

i have not seen a modern military base in the USA that is a museum . i have seen bases that are no longer in use and are just left pretty much as they were . i would be there for a private company to deliver something on a truck as some private companies might rent out a very small section of one base . some of them were very large.

I love bunkers and the like - they're like a window into the past and show how dangerous the past times were - a remainder not to repeat the same mistakes.
The cold war especially was fascinating - the purpose of this base: to take a nuclear hit or two and let the submarines survive long enough to go out and deliver the counter-strike - mutual assured destruction. :)
