What a great video. Thanks so much for posting it and for taking the time to put it together. I'm really inspired by this as, for once, I think I might actually be able to achieve something using the techniques you have shown. Usually I just watch in awe - I always try too hard and either ruin a pot or strangle all the life out of it

Steve, what a wonderful video on slab building. I've never done any, but after watching your video I really would like to try this in the future. My kiln can't get going quick enough! Again, you really do some REAL Pottery work and it's unique. Thanks so much for giving so much!

@MamereClaire Yes. I think Steve should google her and make contact. It seems sad to lose touch like that.

That doll must have had some tough hair!

Great idea on the joint scoring Steve. I can see where that would really join the two pieces into one unit.. Thanks for the tip!

Cool! Guess who will be hand building a bottle this week? Can't help myself... I want to try to throw every pot you make. Regards, Janice
Hello Steve, I love watching you work. Can you tell me please 1. approx how thick were the slabs rolled and 2. how long did it take them to become leather hard. Was it rolled and used all in the same day. I'm not yet very good on the wheel so at least with slab work I can produce reasonable pots. (hopefully) Thank you for posting. Regards, June

@juneyb01 Hi there the slabs are about 1cm or just under 1/2 inch thick. its very damp here at the moment so it takes a couple of days to dry out sufficiently. The thing to do is turn them over occasionally so that they dry evenly on both sides, the way I check is with my thumb nail for resistance also if you turn them you get to feel the stiffnessof the clay. once the slab can stand on its edge without support its usually ready. hope that helps...steve
