Why would you do a penetration test using hollow point against ball?
-
.45 meant for stop kill. Not meant for goin through somethin.

I have a 1911 R1 and a glock 26, why not both? one's a hand cannon the other isn't, they're both fun to shoot, 9mm ammo is a good deal cheaper, the 1911 is a bitch to conceal carry, but it's such a smooth gun. If i could start over i'd buy the g26 first because it's so easy to conceal carry, but i still love the 1911. Anyway has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Good demo. So many people ask "9" or "45?" First off, any gun in a self defense situation is better than no gun. Secondly, shot placement is crucial. Finally, in the end a ballistics test performed by the ATFE (alcohol tobacco firearms and explosives) and FBI shows a 91-97% one shot stop with a 45 vs any ammo in a 9mm at 75-80% one shot stop.

@jcgax70 Obviously you've never used one when it mattered most.

@iammabbella This is where an fn .45 or Para double stack .45 come into play
we did a test of 9mm FMJ vs .45 acp FMJ through 3/16'' bullet proof glass. 9mm went through no problem but the .45 just made a divot in the glass.

@ImmaculateSludge. Do you have a video of that? id like to see that. my buddy and i usually test most of the different ammo that we buy to see what kind of damage it does.we stopped a AK-47 soft point and a 243 soft point as well

@madCOD4skillz man i wish i did! I used to work for a plastics company and had a hook up on polycarbonate scrap that we would go shoot. I'll try and get some more and get some video of it

You need to do this test using the same ammo in each pistol.. a FMJ, and a JHP are designed totally different. FMJ will always penetrate more as this is their design purpose. JHP are designed to penetrate less, and expand more causing a larger wound cavity.
