Supernovas S02E09 - The Universe - History Channel

In the beginning, there was darkness, and then, bang—giving birth to an endless, expanding existence of time, space and matter. Now, see further than we've ever imagined, beyond the limits of our existence, in a place we call The Universe.

A look at the sensational death of stars in supernova explosions which shine as bright as a 100 billion suns and release jets of high-energy matter as gamma-ray bursts and x-ray radiation. Also a look at supernovas recorded throughout history and how stardust creates the building blocks of planets and life.

  • supernovas and GRBs are so cool until they happen near your planet. hopefully 2012 isn't really the end of the world, a GRB hitting earth would probably be the most painful way to go

  • So a white dwarf can explode!

  • love that!!! :D
