The flaws in Paley's statement of the argument are so glaring that, if he'd written it five hundred years earlier, I'd have taken it as an atheistic dog whistle. Why has anyone ever taken it seriously?

@thomaseshuis my apologies for my unclear rant. What i was reffering to as unfalsifiable was the big bang.

@MegaFloyd100 "& in the same category as unfalsifiable religious explanations.so underneath the big words, they are really just faith positions for athiests."
What specific discussion are you talking about?
In general most atheists don't believe in super-natural things and therefore do not seek to fit them into scientific explanations.
The only things atheists have in common is the lack of belief in gods, anything else has nothing to do with atheism.

i think the thing to remember about all of these discussions is that they are metaphysical and not ''scientific' in the sense of the empiracle science they borrow credibility from. They are a root, attempts to shoehorn supenatural phenomena into materialism/naturalism, & in the same category as unfalsifiable religious explanations.so underneath the big words, they are really just faith positions for athiests.

@RuinSonic i agree, and believing that we already have the answer is what stops us from finding the real answers. with regard to kca bringing up good questions, in a sense yes, it can initiate good discussion.
If I walk along the beach and I see a clock on the ground it is safe to assume that there is a maker. That somewhere in China there is a little boy working under terrible conditions to make clocks. And that this boy has an boss who owns the factory and earns all the money that the boys hard work produces.
So that proves that God is only a sub-contractor working under terrible slave like conditions making the universe for the true master of the universe - the flying spaghetti monster.
