@ancientglen. I live quite far away from the Gold Coast (and that continent for that matter). Ron has always seemed a very intelligent, dedicated and hard working fellow, as demonstrated by his success on the track as well as his professional working career. Times are tough for many municipalities across the world these days.

hwyfan, you obviously don't live on the Gold Coast! Rates are through the roof, services have been slashed, council's only interest is in building a new $ half billion headquarters for themselves and an island blocking the Nerang River with an 'arts' centre on it, plus of course flash new waterfront offices for ol' Ron and his bureaucratic cronies.. EPIC FAIL all the way!
