Would like to have seen his coach, who forbid him to wear a mask, and those who mocked him stand in front of a Bobby Hull slapshot.

CH were awesome like everything was awesome before 1980. :-) Today, CH is unbelievably an overfinanced marketing product for the 100th of last year. since more than two years, we're still with their flags up in Montreal.

I played midget hockey goalie without a mask, they didn't have them then. Thanks Jacques, thanks to you many young goalies have been spared face and head injuries, not to mention eyes

Je ne comprende pas que il dit, mais j'aime Jacques Plante....
I liked the come back he used against a fan who thought he was afraid of playing goal with a mask, Jacques's reply was "if you jump out of a plane without a parachute, does that make you brave?" Lol.

Jacques Plante explains that at first hockey players from opposing teams mocked him for wearing a facial mask. He said that during off-seasons he was a Baseball Catcher & Lacrosse Goalie, where he wore a mask. So due to the many facial injuries he subtained in Hockey the idea to adorn a mask made sense. The mask did not imbede his game, because the first year he wore a mask, his team won the Stanley Cup Afterward other goalies started to wear a mask. Now a goaltender mask is standard equipment.
