Glad to see someone else holding the ukulele on the lap. That position provides more stability than clutching it against the chest. The sounds also seems to project more. A footstool for the left foot (right foot if you are lefthanded) may also prove helpful.

I keep trying to play with my fingers, but It keeps messing up the skin right behind the cuticle and it hurts when I strum, I guess I'm doing something wrong.
