Umm you must be dumb, many professional bodybuilders periodize.

Great to find this. My basic trainingbackground in powerlifting is according to Hatfield’s principles. Thanx for posting!

@BelieveVideo
Just curious so periodization would be starting with like say one arm ROWS with 100 pounds then over the course of say two months increasing to say 175 pounds this is just example because if this is the case it works incredibly i have managed to put one inch of muscle on my bicep in less than two months with that i think is this technique also now i can row 200 pounds per arm nice to have a name for the technique if im wrong though just disregard my comment

To the interviewer, I too have never heard of bodybuilders who periodize their training. I've heard of a "bulking phases" and a "cutting phases" or whatever terminology you want call it when they try to add more muscle or decrease bodyfat. However, true periodization that consist of micro/meso/macro cycles are mainly used for athletic performance, not aesthetics. No offense but it almost sounded like Hatfield was thinking to himself, "does this guy even know what periodization means".

@Traps59 By periodization-I thought Fred was talking about gradually going up in weight over weeks. Not starting the first week on Deadlifts with your max amount, but rather a weight that's easier to handle, and over 8 or so weeks increase the weight to max weight for X amount of reps, which is used by many Bodybuilders-but I miss understood him, and I'm sorry for the confusion.
But thanks for the feedback and were glad you watched it!
