It's actions like Roberts' that give lobbyists a bad name. Nobody's accusing Slattery of buying influence - what's wrong with Jim ethically advocating for his clients? Many Kansans can speak to the good he's done.
On the other hand, Roberts voted for subsidies for oil companies and against Medicare negotiating for lower drug prices while accepting money from Big Oil and Big Pharma. It may not have been trading votes for money, but it stinks of impropriety.
