I recently spent a day in Detroit with one of my classes. We mostly toured garden projects but we also had a chance to see the Heidelberg project, which was created in 1986 by Tyree Guyton to draw attention to the poverty plaguing the city.

@weblab1 its better then living next door to a burned down house infested with maggots and crackpipes. plus the heidelbeg project was a community project, everyone involved were the neighbors who you supposably feel sorry for.

Have you ever been there to make that assumption? Obviously not. For your information, the "neighbors" in surrounding blocks all love it as well as he and his family. For about 20 years almost he has managed to stop drug dealers from being there due to the interest in the project by so many people. Learn the facts.

You are the trashy one. BTW Detroit starts with a capital letter. It is the name of a city therefore a proper noun which is always capitalized. It's is It is and so put an apostrophe where it belongs as well. It's - Go back to school.

YOU are the foolish one asshole. I have been gong there for years, Tyree used to hang out with everyone who came around and he STOPPED drug selling in that neighborhood....he created a place where people would come and therefore no drug deals going down. Judge yourself before you judge a whole city!

First of all. I know Tyree and he started this project decades ago to stop all the drug dealers who were selling on his street. Back in the 1990's he always would be hanging out in his porch and would spend time with everyone. He had city problems then. Now that he's in the Modern Art Gallery at the DIA you're taking an interest??? Tyree's been in the news...art wise for AGES! Why not take them down then? And driving thru and not letting them out to walk? Great! WHATEVER!
