What is the music playing in the background in the beginning of the video?

For me, Philip was like finding The Smiths. I found Smiths in 1987, Larkin a bit later. Everything I loved about special England, ruined later. Both got the flavour just right, very very special. And both at the top of the game. Very special.

@winifredatwell Fuck Clive James frankly. If you find something boring you must be boring.

Thanks indeed for this - quite a special item. I'd never seen Larkin speaking in this setting on video. He was a man of genius, a boring one as I expected. Clive James' essay on Larkin is recommended.

Can't put my finger on it but there's something wonderful abou this ... a historical document in back and white aspic, the meeting of two great minds, the certain knowledge that this would never find its way onto prime time BBC nowadays .....

Church Going, from 5:47, says everything I feel about the importance of churches.

@ Loveridgelaps
Spring Bank West cemetery is still there. Still tangled, with a natural, resiliant, and unique beauty. Like much of Larkin's poetry and this whole maligned, fascinating city.

fantastic documentary; thanks again
We're lucky to have this. Wish we had this sort of video of Dylan Thomas.
