Drift cutters for snowthowers cost $29 and up. Here I show you how I fabricated my own for around $5 total - and they work great!

  • Thanks guys!

  • Nice, was just online looking to buy a set from home depot and thought I'd check youtube if anyone crafty posted a video. Thanks...oh and the postal service is just as crabby in PA as they are in your neck of the woods. Must be the polyester uniforms. LOL! Thanks for posting the clip!

  • Nice video presentation of home-made drift cutters. That's my weekend project now! Bonus footage is the post office editorial. Classic.

  • amen! postals service put one of those cards in our mailbox, and ours was the best cleared on the street if not the city

  • @PowerInMN well yeah I did plagerized it. I found it online and thought I would share it with you these engines aren't as bad as you think I have on and I love it, I never get a hick-up or a burp from it even when under the heaviest loads that SOB just keeps going and with all the snow that we just got I put that thing threw Hell and back.

  • @MrMixedGas Either you plagiarized your comment, or you're the original author of the article. Which is it?

  • @steelj23 One thing to understand about Powermore engines. They are not Briggs ripoffs or Honda Clones. These winterized engines are designed and manufactured to specific standards for the North American Snowblower market. They are made by one of the world’s largest motorcycle engine manufactures not some fly-by-night garage and tent operation. This manufacture also works with other brands you know and trust like Harley Davidson to deliver high quality engine components.

  • + 1 for lazy postal service workers!!! I know what you mean. Great idea, after all it's all metal anyways.

  • Drift cutters are nice. I spent the big bucks and bought the Ariens factory ones for mine. Well, they are the new style and don't fit perfect, but the nice thing is mine came with big plastic knobs so I can take them on and off without tools. I only need them once in a while and when I leave them on I'm always afraid I'll bump a car or the house with them, lol.

    Wingnuts would work too, tho.

It'd be cooler if you mounted old chainsaw bars on there and powered them off the auger. ;)

  • Awesome. They are pretty much sold out due to the recent storms but I was looking for some kind of bar to use!

  • Exxxxactly what I was looking for....and I have leftovers of these in the garage...Thanks for sharing the idea. I own a MTD Yard Machines 28in.It is identical to the Craftman except I have a Briggs engine. They're both made by MTD and beware of the newer models; they put crappy chinese engines on them (POWERMORE)
