Fairway Plainview: Firefighter BBQ Food Faceoff

If you shop at one of our five locations you already know that Fairway is synonymous with firefighters. You always see them in our stores and you know if you see firefighters shopping at the same store as you then you are shopping at the best food store in your neighborhood.

So, a while back we offered cooking classes at our 74th Street location, not unlike the cooking classes I have with Mitchel now, except we used local chefs instead of Fairway employees. We had chefs like Bobby Flay entertain and teach our customers for a few hours well before it had become an accepted practice. But, you know which cooking classes sold out the quickest? The firefighter's. It seemed like everyone on the Upper West Side of Manhattan was obsessed with our neighborhood firefighters. We just could not offer enough cooking classes with them.

This video shows our latest collaboration with firefighters, a barbeque cooking contest in Plainview, Long Island. We currently have one in the works for Harlem later in the summer and for Brooklyn in the fall so stay tuned for all of the event information.
