Calder playing "Storm" at The Zodiac Sessions open mic night, Dublin, Ireland.
CALDER
After performing in several bands from behind the drum kit for years, Calder joined funk/rock outfit, Solar Cell and suddenly found himself as a singer and frontman. This was the most refreshing revelation for a passionate and driven musician and after the unfortunate and premature demise of this band he relocated to Leicester in October 2005. In Leicester he declared himself a singer-songwriter and began performing a few of his self-penned tunes in open mic's around the city. Before long he had his own "empire" of open mic events and became the front man for the excellent covers act Replica. Having written lyrics for years and being more than comfortable on stage he has gradually learned the craft of solo performance by "getting out there and doin it the hard way, instead of perfecting it behind closed doors." He has impressed audiences from all walks of life with his powerful vocal style and catchy songs. With a range of genre that reaches from summery, chillout moods to ballsy anthems, to heartfelt ballads and jangly acoustic pop, he looks to keep improving and captivating audiences. His covers band have now put their print on a recent demo and the future looks like it will bring other, more electronic, beat driven influences to the table. Its going full circle as he takes the drum throne once again. . Watch this space.. "Outstanding voice and song-writing to match. A real 'tour-de-force' and one of the emerging artists to watch out for." (Darren Nockles, the Musician) "One of Leicester's hardest working performers. Calder belts out his powerful anthems with a voice that can move hair from several paces. Expect big, passionate songs that should have the Stereophonics and the like watching their backs for this young upstart." (Gaz Birtles: Beautiful South, Fun Lovin Criminals, Song Club)

Great performance. Gruff voice sounds great and adds distinction. Would like to hear song in a different key.

Psst. The description says "m" again. Is it some kind of macro typo or a note to musicians to authorize a press release or what? =)
