When Aluminum metal is introduced to a solution of elemental bromine a violent reaction occurrs, white aluminum bromide smoke is produced along with bromine vapor.

  • the aluminum reacts with the bromine giving off white and red fumes of bromine and aluminum bromide.

  • no I didnt make this from a retort.

    I made it by bubbling chlorine gas through a sodium bromide solution.
