  • The audio from this video was used in William Lane Craig's last podcast.

  • Thank you for letting me know that. I've been soundbited. I guess this counts against my 15 minutes of fame. ;>)

  • I believe the boom in evangelism actually began to decline in the 70's. During the 70's there was a big push toward evangelism that lasted for awhile but did not catch on with many people. If I am not mistaken the television evangelism took off about that time and has led to what we have today. GBU

  • By the way, here's a further sign of that era passing. Newt Gingrich, who was a key figure in much of that era and a darling of many Evangelical Christians, is entering the Catholic Church next week.

  • I wasn't aware ogf that. I wonder why he chose to do that? GBU

  • Probably a number of factors. His wife is Catholic and that likely set the ball in motion. Also, whatever one may think of his policies, he is a very smart man and an able historian. Perhaps the faddish nature of contemporary Evangelicalism has gotten to much for him.

  • Evangelicalism has lead me to existential theology, and subsequently I have found home in liberation theology (without the Marxism, seeing as I'm a market anarchist...), but also the continual studies of scholars have lead me to reject Evangelical's ridiculous doctrines of inerrancy, and I have come to terms with the notion that Jesus was wrong about the end times, and I follow his message to liberate those suffering spiritually, economically, or otherwise.

  • Evangelicalism in the US today seems to have a lot of the diseases of late mediaeval Catholicism. Maybe it needs a reformation.

  • All towers of Babylon collapse eventually.

  • Something of an Orwellian Christianity, huh? The world outside looked from the Church to itself, and from itself to the Church; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

  • The dubious contention that "Christian missionaries of various labels " bribe politicians does not prove my post false but actually established it. Christian missionaries for the most part come from nations in the west, where entanglement in politics is rife. The indigenous Christians living in the countries are not bribing politicians-most of them do not have the means to do so if they wanted to

  • Evangelism is a failed tradition.Christian missionaries were recruited with an absurd inspiration from certain"gospel" exhortations,to convert "atheists, agnostics, pagans, heathens, infidels,..." (all of hem even if following even more ancient faiths). "Churchitarians" thus caused religious violence. At the end of it all, what we have today is a highly anarchic population ofChristians in the West, who have been already spiritually raped, who have no sense of God.SURE, XIANITY CANT SAVE ANYONE.

  • bmkaruppan! Communalism is bad if communities do not want to work for some common goals besides the goals of respective communities. Indian politicians , to my mind, seem more selfish than average Western politician, and they forget country's harmony and progress, and play up one community against another for divide and rule, and votes. The Evangelicals try to take ill-advantage of communal divisions, and steadily convert the poorest communities neglected by government. But no uplift!!

  • 3. There are "socially downtrodden" castes who make up some 25% of total Indian population. They are actually communities, as in every country, which are yet to be educated that ONLY self discipline, sacrifice& conformance to mainstream culture can uplift them, morally, spiritually and economically. Religious conversion never can uplift whole communities, but individuals succeed thru self effort. India has made strong laws banning communal (caste) discrimination, before US banned racialism.

  • 2. E's have infiltrated governments as ministers, to help misuse laws on religious freedom to enable speedy evangelicalism and conersion work aimed at duping poor people. Poverty is not as wide as understood by immature Western media. But human beings in general are greedy and want to get-rich-quick for which E's perform fraud miracles of "Jesus' grace" and mass conversions happen, though rare. BUT EVIL EVANGELICALISM HAS BEGOTTEN HUGE RESISTANCE OF THE DEEPLY RELIGIOUS AND GOD FEARING HINDUS

  • I am from India. India for thousands of years remains warm host to alien religions, Islam and Christianity, as long as they didn't strike a heart blow to the Hindu-Vedic roots. Evangelicals of the new genre could not buy all politicians since majority of whom are not so greedy to sell themselves for bribes, and are not such total betrayers of their own religio-cultural roots. Hence the E's, to keep themselves busy, getting their pay from their US/Western masters, have devised other devices.
