but well done all the same Doug - population is the everything issue. We are still growing at 84 million a year and globally, annual growth rates have only declined by 0.1% from 2004 (from 1.3 to 1.2) - too slowly!!

It's a pity that Doug didn't stress that the major driver of population growth is lack of access to family planning, education and information on how to build prosperity and have healthy happy children with a future. My information is that around 85% of US population growth comes from migrants or the children of migrants fleeing overpopulation or bullying which in turn drives more pop.growth in the developed countries which in turn drives more exploitation of resources of poorer countries.

He is so right. Talking about overpopulation is one of the biggest taboos today. This is one of those moments when I'm glad we have comedians to breach those walls of discussion.
