Commodore international was in the red but Commodore UK and Commodore germany were doing really really well, so i thought was there a possibility that they both could continue and possibly buy the parent company? Or was that a no no based on some bullshitty business aggrement? hmm...would love to see commodore in some form still around (todays amiga os scene doesnt count)

If you call 3 years "no time," then, yeah, the N64 beat it to the punch.
But, seriously. The CD32 was only officially released in Europe and in Canada in 1993; Commodore was hit with an injunction that barred their products from being sold in the U.S. since they had to settle a debt, which caused them to go bankrupt.
The games didn't matter as Commodore was in bad shape, which doomed the CD32.
And, the first 32-bit console in the world is the 1991 Fujitsu FM Towns Marty.
