Actually this is physically impossible. Charlie should have survived what happened to him:
Not all of the air from the room could have escaped through the window. The room would have filled up until a little over the top of the window because after all the water blocks air's way to escape through the window, air would prevent water from replacing its place. This is vacuum.
Go ahead and try drilling a hole on the side of a plastic bottle and holding it under water and see how much of it fills up!

@ahuhtasaari only the air below the window would. the air above it would get trapped, unless water was coming in from above, too.
That's why the moon pool (remember, the one they came in through?) doesn't cause the station to flood. If your theory was correct, the entire station wouldn't have been able to work in the first place.
Look, anybody who disagrees with me: go to the wiki page for Moon pool and read the section "Leaks in submerged moon-pool chambers." It's basic science.
