Tank driving - 6 July 2008
I got a day's "tank driving" (strictly speaking off-road vehicles, an APC and a self-propelled gun, but who cares) at Galloway Tanks (www.gallowaytanks.co.uk) for my birthday. I'm slowly cutting together a more coherent video, but for now I'll just post the clips in their unedited form. Better is to come.
Dad's got to get a quick look-in; here he is driving an Abbot SPG back into the parking area. That's another Abbot in the background, and the big beige thing that blocks the view? That's my cap. Mamma - my maternal camera operator of variable stability - was using it to shield my camera from the rain. Hey, if it's stupid but works, it ain't stupid.
I see where you coming from. I know the feelin of going off road in a stalwart and the feeling is rather quite pleasurable and that Rolls Royce B81 engine makes the hairs on my neck stand up.

Yes, the Stolly was brilliant. It was nervous, of course, having the constant impression that the steering wheel wasn't actually connected to anything, but brilliant fun. And as you say, an incredibly impressive engine noise.

Absolutely correct - thus my remark in the description:
"strictly speaking... an APC and a self-propelled gun"
I'm normally very picky about those things as well, but most people have a rough idea of what "tank driving" means but get a blank look when you say "I went SPG-driving this weekend". ;-)
