The National Citizens' Coalition for Nursing Home Reform (NCCNHR) was formed because of public concern about substandard care in nursing homes. Curmet Forte resides in a longterm-care facility and is a board member of NCCNHR. He was paralyzed at a young age and has not let his circumstances prevent him from speaking up and out for residence rights. We salute Curmet for his bravery and advocacy.

It is a tragedy when residents do not get the help they need & some suffer horrible consequences. It is time for person-centered care to be common, for each resident to be cherished for who they are beyond disease & ability, encouraged to express themselves, and have individualized care. TODAY we can accept the wisdom that residents have to offer us & learn more about interdependence. Visit a resident today! Hear their stories & help them get quality care so they can have quality life.

I know Curmet and he is one of a kind. I usually only get to see Curmet once of year and have for the past 10 years or more and he is an inspiration to me and always reminds of what my job is and why I need to continue my work. I never fail to learn something from him. Thanks Curmet, from Carol D in KY
